Samsung ST80 Review

Overview of the Samsung ST80 Camera

Through this review, you will see that the Samsung ST80 is a nice digital camera, which offers several very interesting features, including the WiFi connectivity as well as the LCD touch screen with the measurement of 3.0 inches. However, there are some other features that are not as nice as I have expected. The most significant one among these features is the image quality that is not really consistent as I expect for a model under the sub-$250 price range. In addition, just microSD memory card is acceptable for this ST80, which is slightly inconvenient.

The Samsung ST80 would have been a nicer camera if its image quality were more consistent with a zoom lens of larger than 3X.

The ST80 digital model from Samsung offers the built-in WiFi connecting capability. The camera bodies are now available in four color options: silver, red, black and blue

Brief Review of the Samsung ST80 Camera

  • It is nice to find an LCD touch screen in such a camera at this low price
  • The performance of the camera is great when you shoot photos outdoors
  • The WiFi connecting capability is a nice extra advantage, which you don’t often find in many point and shoot cameras, which makes the uploads easy
  • This model is very thin, so it is not difficult to hold and use

  • It would be nicer if the optical zoom lens was larger than 3X and its performance is faster when zooming
  • Indoor image quality is not consistent, and you may have images washed out by the flash for photos over very short distances.
  • Sometimes, it can be hard to select the touch screen commands correctly
  • The battery requires to be charged inside the camera

  • The resolution is 14.2 MP
  • The optical zoom is 3X (equivalent to 35-105mm)
  • The 3.0-inch LCD touch screen has the resolution of 230,000 pixels
  • The image size is 4320 x 3240 pixels at maximum
  • The camera uses a Li-ion battery which can be rechargeable
  • The image dimensions are 3.62 x 2.18 x 0.73 inches
  • The camera weighs 3.81 ounces (the battery and memory card are not included)
  • The 1/2.3 in image sensor applies the CCD technology
  • A 720p HD movie mode is supported

Detailed Review of the Samsung ST80 Camera

Image Quality

When you shoot photos in the outdoor lighting conditions, the image quality of the Samsung ST80 is pretty good. You can be satisfied with the precise colors as well as the good exposure, even when shooting under the bright sunlight or places under the shadows.

In low-priced cameras, problems often arise when you shoot photos under inadequate lighting conditions and the Samsung ST80 is not an exception. You can have the sharp focus for both photos shot outdoors and indoors but you may encounter some problems with the exposure of photos shot indoors. Sometimes, you may have the pretty bad underexposure when shooting in areas of shadows. If you shoot a photo indoors with both shadows and light, you may encounter several exposing problems.

If the flash must be used, you should try not to shoot photos over extremely short distances, because the final results may be washed out images. However, the focus of the macro images over very short distances can be pretty sharp when you don’t use the flash. Actually, in the testing, I found that the focus of this camera was sharper when using the automatic mode than the macro mode, especially when you shoot subjects over short distances.

The ST80 camera has very fast response times, but there is some lag with the camera shutter when you shoot photos under inadequate lighting conditions.

It’s a bit disappointing that the zoom lens of the ST80 doesn’t offer high magnification and sufficient wide angle capabilities. The moving speed of the camera zoom lens is also slow when you change the magnification settings.

You can manually control some of the ST80 camera settings but this is pretty limited. The control options are available for setting the white balance, exposure as well as the ISO.

The Samsung ST80 brings you a well-built feel though it is a very thin and small camera. With this size and shape, you can find it easy to keep the camera in your hands as well use it.

As commonly found in other Samsung cameras, the menu of the ST80 is very well-organized. Therefore, it is not difficult at all to work with this menu.

I did not like some aspects of the ST80 design. Firstly, the battery requires to be charged inside the camera as there is not any stand-alone battery charger. This means that even when you have a second battery, the first battery still cannot be charged while you are using the second one to capture images. Secondly, just microSD memory cards are acceptable with this camera and this type of memory card does not have the regular sizes that you often find in SD memory cards.

It is nice to find an LCD touch screen with the Samsung ST80. However, although the diagonal measurement is 3 inches, this screen is still slightly small, and you may not always be able to select the commands/options on the screen correctly. There is not any other button for the menu controlling, so you have to use the LCD touchscreen to work with the menus. When you use the camera under the direct sunlight, there may be a little bit of glare that appears on the LCD, but this is not considerable.

Lastly, a nice extra advantage of the Samsung ST80 is the inclusion of the WiFi connectivity. Together with the LCD touch screen, this built-in WiFi makes the Samsung ST80 pretty different among the models in the same price range. If you are really interested in these two offerings, the ST80 shall bring you a very nice value. If you don’t really want the above two features, the Samsung ST80 may not be really appealing to you.

Samsung DualView TL225 Review

Overview of the Samsung DualView TL225 Camera

The DualView TL225 camera has been pretty popular through TV advertisement lately and perhaps you have seen it. It is not common that a camera manufacturer refers to an advertising campaign through TV, especially for a point and shoot model, but Samsung did this with the DualView TL225. There were some nice reasons for this.

It is the inclusion of the dual LCD screen that makes the Samsung DualView TL225 become a very amazing camera. Through the review, you also see that the design as well as the performance of the Samsung DualView TL225 is very nice. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retailer Price of $350 has been slightly beyond the budgets of beginning photographers, but if you are the one who wants an amazing model, this is exactly the option for you.

The DualView TL225 from Samsung is among the most attractive models which offer the dual LCD screen in the current holiday season.

Brief Review of the DualView TL225 Camera

  • The two LCD screens with the Samsung DualView TL225  are really impressive
  • The  large LCD touch screen on the back panel is one of the greatest one in the market and you will be easily satisfied with its brightness and sharpness
  • The photo quality is really nice
  • The performance of the autofocus is good for the majority of time
  • The menu is well organized, especially with the camera LCD touchscreen

  • It is a little hard to hold the camera comfortably due to the large size of the LCD
  • The large LCD occupies the entire back panel, which is easy to smudge
  • The battery requires to be charged while it’s in camera
  • At times, you may have macro mode images washed out as the flash is needed
  • The camera just works with less popular MicroSD memory cards

  • The resolution is 12.2 megapixels
  • The optical zoom measures 4.6X (equivalent to 27-124.2mm)
  • The back 3.5-inch LCD touch screen has the resolution of 1,152,000 pixels and the front 1.5-inch LCD has the resolution of 61,000 pixels

  • The camera uses a Li-ion battery which can be rechargeable
  • The dimensions are 2.35 x 3.93 x 0.73 inches

  • The 1/2.33 in image sensor uses the CCD technology

Detailed Review of the Samsung DualView TL225 Camera

Image Quality

The resolution of the Samsung camera is 12.2 MP, which allows you to print photos at large sizes. In overall, the image quality with the DualView TL225 is very nice. The colors are accurate and the focus is sharp.

Sometimes, you can have the excessive flash or the performance of the macro mode is not good when there is a lack of light, but these drawbacks are not significant.

The response times with the Samsung DualView TL225 are very fast. You almost see no shutter lag or delays from shot to shot.

The most significant potential drawback relates to the battery life, because your battery will drain faster with the dual LCDs screen. Samsung has tried to save the battery life by turning off the front LCD whenever photographers don’t use it, but it is recommended that you should bring along another battery which have been charged fully.

Now, I’d like to talk about the interesting part of the Samsung DualView TL225: The two LCDs.

The main 3.5-inch LCD is a very great screen which is among the brightest and sharpest screens that you have found. But as this LCD accounts for the whole back panel, it can be slightly hard for holding the camera conveniently without having the LCD smudged. However, just take time to practice holding the camera, you will get used to it quickly.

Another LCD with the measurement of 1.5 inches is located on the camera front, which is a very nice offering. Obviously, you can find it easier to shoot self-portraits with this small screen. You also find a “smiley face” or an animation displayed on this screen, which easily attract the attention of small kids when you want them to look at the camera while you capture their images.

Lastly, the performance of the LCD touchscreen is very great as expected. You even can make use of “gestures,” for example using the fingers to draw an “X” on the LCD on an image that you want to delete. Finding an LCD touchscreen on an entry-level model is very nice.

Beside the two LCDS, the type of microSD memory card that you can use with the Samsung DualView TL225 is less popular. This means that you need to purchase a new memory card.

Samsung NX10 Review

Overview of the Samsung NX10 Camera

When you are considering digital cameras, you easily focus on the long list of specifications and you may not remember that the most important aspect for any good digital cameras is the image quality.

The image quality is the aspect that I have paid a lot of attention when I have reviewed the Samsung NX10 camera because the camera excels in terms of the image quality aspect. The images are of great quality, which are very bright and sharp. In addition, the response times are fast. All of the above aspects make it a very nice option for your consideration while you are finding a camera which belongs to the category between advanced interchangeable lens cameras and point and shoot cameras in the camera market.

If you don’t see the image quality, perhaps the starting price with this camera is a little bit high. Its manufacturer’s suggested retail price is about $700 when you only buy the camera body.

  • The image quality is very good
  • The AMOLED screen is very sharp and bright

Detailed Review of the Samsung NX10 Camera

Image Quality

If you have been accustomed to shooting photos with a point and shoot camera, you will find it a very nice change with the image quality of the NX10. For outdoor shooting conditions, the images are very sharp and bright. And the performance of the NX10 is great for action photos. You can also find it easy to make large prints with the resolution of 14.6 megapixels.

For photos shot in low light, the image quality is not really as good as with adequate light shooting. You may see some noise in certain circumstances. There is a small flash which is built in the camera or you may use an extra flash unit when shooting low light photos.

To sum up, the image quality is the best feature of the NX10.

The capacity to automatically focus quickly and precisely really surprised me a lot. With this ability, the Samsung NX10 camera is really a great candidate for shooting moving subjects. The response times with this camera are also fast. In cases that you are accustomed to using point and shoot cameras, the response times of the “prosumer” model is a surprise to you.

In low light photography, there is a bit noise in your photos, depending on how you configure the lens that you are using. The performance of the image stabilization sometimes is not good with some types of lenses, which leads to photos with noise.

Beginning photographers will find it not difficult at all to use all of the available automatic features. There is also a great collection of manual control features as well while photographers with more experiences may expect to take more controlling over than the camera currently provides.

The performance levels of the Samsung’s NX10 are pretty similar to those of a DSLR camera, but it’s not accurate as with a DSLR. Therefore, sometimes it is known as “digital interchangeable lens” camera, or DIL. Actually, Samsung’s NX10 is a mirror-less interchangeable lens model.

The size of this model is small, even when you put it in comparison with other prosumer models which use interchangeable lens. This camera should attract those who are transferring from point and shoot models. If you get acquainted with a DSLR camera with a larger size, you will certainly expect to try this camera before making the purchase decision. You may need to make sure that the camera is convenient to use.

The screen of the NX10 is one of the best ones you have seen on such a camera, which is a bright and sharp 3.0-inch AMOLED screen.

With the nice mirror-less shooting design, the NX10 was given the 2010 Innovative Digital Product Award by DIMA.

Finally, in addition to the common black color for the camera body which is common for most cameras using interchangeable lens, the manufacturer has offered a limited edition white NX10 model – at least launched in Korea – together with the model in black somewhere else in the world.

Samsung NX30 Review

Overview of the Samsung NX30 Camera

The Samsung NX30 is another in the long line of very powerful mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (ILCs) from Samsung. With this camera, you will be very pleased with the high image quality and advanced shooting features. In addition, the performance is very fast and extra features are very nice.

The image sensor of this Samsung camera has the 20.3MP resolution. And you can easily make large prints with the NX30 because the lighting in the scene is nice.

Samsung included all of the latest “must have” features with this model, among which there includes a touch screen display that’s also an articulated LCD screen. The built-in Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity are two extra great features. Besides, you can have the manual controls you need to tweak the NX30’s settings to create high-quality photos.

Best of thing about the NX30 camera is the easy-to-use feature. If the price tag is a bit lower versus its MSRP of $999, it will easily become the best mirrorless ILC currently on the market. Even the current starting price is high, the Samsung NX30 ranks highly in the current market. And it’s a camera that can meet the needs of photographers with different skill levels.

Summary of the Samsung NX30 Camera

  • The resolution is 20.3 megapixels
  • Optical zoom: N/A, uses interchangeable lenses
  • 3.0-inch AMOLED screen is an articulated touchscreen which has the 1.037 million pixel resolution
  • The image size is 5472 x 3648 pixels at maximum
  • The camera uses a Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery
  • The dimensions are 5.0 x 3.8 x 1.6 inches
  • The camera weighs 13.2 ounces
  • There includes a CMOS APS-C image sensor:  (23.5 by 15.7 mm or 0.93 by 0.62 inches)

  • Strong mixture of manual control and automatic shooting options
  • Display includes both touch and articulated capabilities

  • Starting price is a little high

Detail Review of the Samsung NX30 Camera

Image Quality

Samsung use an APS-C sized image sensor which has the resolution of 20.3 megapixels. Therefore, the image quality with the Samsung NX30 camera is outstanding. There are two image formats you can select, including: RAW, JPEG, or apply both the image formats at the same time

The image exposure is great and you can obtain accurate colors within the majority of types of scenes. And you can easily make large prints with the photos shot with the NX30.

There are several problems with image quality when you shoot photos in low light conditions. But you can use the built-in popup flash unit with the NX30, and you can obtain images of average image quality with this popup flash. You may also need an external flash unit which is purchased separately by attaching it to the hot shoe.

Instead of using the available flash unit, you can choose to increase the ISO setting in low conditions. The noise will be very unnoticeable until you set the ISO up to 3200 or higher.

You’ll be pleased with the good full HD video quality with the Samsung NX30 as well.

Thanks to a powerful internal processor, the shutter lag and shot-to-shot delays has been basically eliminated. The NX30 camera is able to shoot up to 9 frames per second. In addition, a fast and accurate autofocus system also contributes to make the performance much better. If in a case, you need the manual focus, this capability is available with the NX30 as well.

The AMOLED screen is extremely sharp, which measures 3.0 inches diagonally and has the resolution of 1 million pixels. It is super easy to use the camera with this touch screen capability. And this screen is an articulated screen too.

The on-screen menus are well organized with this Samsung camera and especially, the touch screens is a great design. It is very easy to use this model because the NX30’s menus are of a similar quality. Through this on-screen menus, you can apply any of several special effect options to make your photographs more interesting.

The camera’s built-in Wi-Fi is another extra advantage which is also easy to use. This is not common with very many digital cameras.

In the design of the Samsung NX30 camera, the extendable viewfinder is one of the most interesting features. The limitation that you can extend and angle the viewfinder is 80 degrees to the back of the camera body. With the above number, you can find it easier to use the viewfinder while mounted to a tripod. However, I am not sure whether the extendable viewfinder is all that necessary while there included an articulated display screen with the NX30. Anyway, it is great to find a viewfinder in a mirrorless camera, even extendable or not.

In addition, it’s a little odd that the Samsung memory card slot is located inside the battery compartment on the bottom panel of the camera.  In regard of the extendable viewfinder increases using the NX30 on a tripod, it would be better that Samsung put the memory card slot on the side of the camera body. At that location, you can get access to it with the camera attached to a tripod. You won’t not able to get access without removing it from the tripod if the compartment is at the bottom of the camera.

The NX30 is a little thicker than its past mirrorless ILCs, which has a nice right-hand grip. It is also nice to see the organization of the NX30’s buttons and dials in locations that are easy to access while naturally using the camera.

Samsung WB250F Review

Overview of the Samsung WB250F

The Samsung WB250F camera is very sharp-looking and it brings a lot of fun to use this camera because its zoom lens is large and there are many special effect features.

The menu structure is very easy to use for photographing beginners with a great LCD screen. This make the WB250F as easy to use as a smartphone even though there are far greater photography features. And you can use the built-in Wi-Fi to share your photos via social networking sites immediately after the photos are shot.

Especially, it is great that the price has fallen below $200 within the past several weeks.

Unfortunately, the image quality of the WB250F is not really good. You will see some softness with the autofocus and it is not really good to view the photos of large sizes. If you are the one who want to share photos via social networking sites, you will be happy with the strengths of the WB250Fcamera. The model brings a pretty good value despite some problems with the image quality because of the advanced features and the lower price tag recently under the MSRP of $249.99.

Overview of the Samsung WB250F Camera

  • The resolution is 14.2 megapixels
  • The optical zoom lens is 18X (24-432 mm)
  • The 3.0-inch LCD screen is a 460,000-pixel touchscreen
  • The image size is 4320 x 3240 pixels at maximum
  • The camera use a Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery
  • The dimensions are 4.19 x 2.35 x 1.26 inches
  • The camera weighs 6.8 ounces (with battery and memory card included)
  • The 1/2.33 in image sensor use the CMOS technology
  • A HD 1080p movie mode is supported

  • It is very easy to use the high-quality touchscren LCD, especially for beginners
  • Built-in Wi-Fi is nice to find at this price
  • Menu structure is organized in a smart, natural way
  • Popup flash provides good results in low light
  • In-camera special effects are fun to use

  • Image quality is not really good because of some softness in the autofocus
  • Images look a bit odd when viewed at large sizes because of in-camera processing
  • Shutter lag problems exist
  • Battery must be charged inside the camera
  • Start-up could be faster
Samsung WB250F Camera Review for Buyer

Samsung WB250F Camera Review for Buyer

Detail Review of Samsung WB250F Camera

Image Quality

As I mentioned before, the image quality is the biggest weakness with the Samsung WB250F camera. When the photos are shown at small sizes, for example, for sharing via social networking sites like Facebook – the image quality is pretty ok.

However, when you want to view them at large size on the computer screen or make large prints, some image quality happens. You will see the softness with the autofocus, which is considerable when you view the photos at large size. In addition, with some noise problems as well as an over-processed appearance, the images themselves encounter some problems at large sizes.

The image quality could be obviously better if a larger image sensor is included with this Samsung camera, rather than the current small image sensor which is just 1/2.33 inches. Of course, the price will be higher with a large image sensor.

The movie quality is acceptable with this camera and there are a lot of video resolutions which include the full HD movie mode.

It is very impressive to see a lot of great features with the WB250F camera when considering the price that has fallen below $200.

The touch screen LCD is very bright, which is a great feature in such an expensive camera. And the menu structure was well organized to match with this touch screen. The touch sensors with this screen are very responsive. It is very easy to use the camera with those features. In addition, the built-in help screens also help beginning users understand each of the WB250F’s features easily.

Moreover, the built-in Wi-Fi connectivity is another great advantage at this price point, in which you can share your photos easily online.

The battery life with this camera is pretty good. But when you use the Wi-Fi connectivity on a regular basis, the battery will be drained more quickly.

While the camera performs pretty well with the “add-on” features, the performance related to photography with the Samsung WB250F is not as good as expected. Some spontaneous photos may be missing because the shutter lag happens sometimes. The start up speed is also not fast as well.

The popup flash unit, which is located on the center of the camera body, does help bring a pretty great performance levels for shooting photos in which you use the flash. This is a nice option for taking group photos during a night out that can be used for being shared on social networking sites later.

The WB250F camera has included a very impressive feature – it is the large 18X optical zoom lens. However, you cannot find many “stops” in the structure of the optical zoom lens. Hence, it will be not easy to stop the telephoto lens accurately based on the zoom setting.

The design of the WB250F camera is very stylish and sharp. There are four solid color options for the camera bodies, in which I reviewed the white one and its impressive look really attracted me.

This is a pretty thin camera, which is popular with the 1-inch thickness in many places and the widest one is measured at 1.26 inches. It can be favorably compared to other large zoom thin cameras with its large 18X optical zoom lens.

You can make use of a variety of manual control features with this camera. Those feature allows you to use the camera as a fully automatic camera in full Manual modes and Program Auto.

Samsung NX2000 Review

Overview of the Samsung NX2000 Camera

Most photographers love the Samsung NX2000 mirrorless DIL camera in at least one or several features.

While experienced photographers will love NX2000’s capacity to shoot in RAW image format and its large APS-C sized image sensor, the less experienced ones will like the easy-to-use features and the touchscreen LCD with the high quality. And for those who are interested in the greatest and latest features, they will be attracted with the built-in Wi-Fi and NFC technologies as well as the stylish, thin design of this camera.

The great news is that you will find that all of those components and features perform very well. Therefore, the Samsung NX2000 deserves to be one of the best cameras on the market.

The biggest hindrance with this camera is its starting price tag which is a little bit higher than with some other cameras in the market now. Still, referring to the list of useful features, the price is well worthy with regard to what you receive when you buy this camera. However, this feature-rich Samsung camera may be beyond the budget of some intermediate-level photographers who are seeking for an interchangeable lens camera for the beginning level.

Summary of the Samsung NX2000 Camera

  • The resolution is 20.3 megapixels
  • Optical zoom:N/A, uses interchangeable lenses

Detail Review of the Samsung NX2000 Camera

Image Quality

Although there are a variety of impressive features with the NX2000 DIL camera, the image quality is still an aspect which gains much attention of this manufacturer. The image quality is great for all kind of lighting conditions and it is good not only for photos shared online but also for large and sharp prints with this camera.

It’s the large APS-C sized image sensor which helps to create the wonderful image quality. This type of image sensor is common in many DSLR cameras. The resolution with the NX2000 is up to 20.3 megapixels, which contributes to the overall good image quality. In cases that you want to make more adjustments on the photos, the RAW format is a nice option. This feature is not really include is every DIL camera.

The main aspect ratio that you’re going to be able to shoot in with the NX2000 is the natural 3:2 ratio with the APS-C image sensor. You cannot select the 4:3 aspect ratio but you can decide to shoot at 16:9 and 1:1 ratios if you think it’s proper for your photos.

One area in which you may see the shutter lag is movie recording. Although the full HD video resolution is supported, the performance of the NX2000’s autofocus mechanism tends to be slightly slow for shooting movies. This means that for moving subjects, there may appear several seconds of blurry video.

The performance of the NX2000 is very great, even in low light conditions, thanks to the large CMOS image sensor. The noise is also minimal when you set the high ISO levels, that’s why you can have good photos shot in low light circumstances. Although there is no built-in flash with the the NX2000, you can attach a external flash – which is included in the box – to the hot shoe.

The working speed of the Samsung NX2000 is very fast and the shutter lag is minimal. You can select the multiple burst modes in which you can make use of the full resolution capabilities. The lags from shot to shot are slightly longer that I expect for a camera at this price point, but there is no need to concern much about this small problem.

The built-in Wi-Fi connectivity is an extra great advantage. It is very easy to use and its performance is extremely great. Samsung historically has figured out the good way to deal with setting up Wi-Fi capabilities and wireless connectivity performance in its cameras, and the NX2000 follows the line.

The good Battery performance is another nice aspect. With this battery, the maximum numbers of photos shot per charge is 300 photos. But keep in mind that you use the Wi-Fi connectivity, it will drain the battery more quickly.

Looking at such a thin and colorful camera as the the NX2000, some photographers may be reminded more of a point and shoot camera. With this advanced camera, you can have a lot of color options to select. This model is especially proper for those who are keen on own a stylish point and shoot camera but are seeking to move to a camera using interchangeable lens.

The overall design of the NX2000 is very excellent and this is also one of the few models in the market that has a great combination between easy-to-use features and some advanced photography options. In general, the great design as well as those features will continue to help improve your photography gradually.

One aspect of the Samsung NX2000’s design that photographers will find  it very easy to use the extremely large 3.7-inch touchscreen LCD. This is a large  bright and sharp LCD. There are a few problems with glare when you’re shooting in sunlight, but that’s the only hindrance with this large LCD.

One of the best aspects in the design is the touch screens. The manufacture has performed tremendously in redesigning its menus to take full advantage of the touchscreen. You can find it very easy to use the on-screen menus. Although the model does not use the Android OS, which is quite common for some Samsung touchscreen cameras, the arrangement of the NX2000’s menu is very well-designed.

Samsung MV800 Review

Overview of the Samsung MV800 Camera

Samsung is different from most other manufacturers in terms of the innovation strategy. While increasing the resolution and the optical zoom lens are what other manufacturers focus on, Samsung tends to make innovation, even within the low priced point and shoot market.

Several years ago, the DualView family of cameras were released into the market, in which you can see th two LCD screen, one in the front and another in the back. These two dual screens make it easier for taking self-portraits. Besides, the WiFi capabilities were also included with the ST80 camera several years ago.

At the moment, another wonderful feature is the inclusion of flip LCD which makes it easier to capture self-portraits thanks to its ability to rotate 1800 until it’s positioned over the top panel of the camera. In addition to the touch screen, it is not difficult at all to use this camera. Despite the fact that the performance of the MV800 in low light is not really good, it still brings a lot of fun to use.

Older children are likely to use this camera thanks to the similarity of a touch screen interface compared to that of a smartphone and its capacity to capture self-portraits.

Detailed Review of the Samsung MV800 camera

Image Quality

The image quality of the MV800 in general is impressive. It is the strong auto focus which contributes large part to this good quality. For most situations, the MV800’s autofocus is very sharp. However, you may encounter some problems with this focus in the low light conditions.

The colors of the images are commonly very great. But low light photos may not have that good image quality. It is recommended to use the flash in low light conditions. This action can help create better results.

There are two ratio setting option with the MV800: 16:9 and 4:3. And the number of available resolution levels is up to eight different options. Among these options, there are six ones under the 4:3 aspect ratio. It would have been greater if there had been more aspect ratios.

Besides the main functions, you also can make your photos more interesting with a variety of cool special effects with the MV800. Some of them can be listed such as: magic frame, picture in picture, photo filter, blur or vignetting. There are some more attractive effects that you can apply for your images, such as old film, retro, oil painting, and many others as well.  Among those special effects, the picture in picture option is my favorite option which cannot be found in any other cameras.

When the special effects are applied, some delays from shot to shot shall happen. However, to review the camera in overview, it does bring fun to use this camera. Especially, together with the flip LCD for self-portraits, all of the above features make the MV800 a proper option for kids.

The 1080p HD mode is supported, which helps create many nice videos. It requires pressing a button on the LCD screen when you want to start and stop movies. While you are recording movies, you are able to use the zoom lens, which is really a nice feature.

The general performance is ok in normal situations, except in the low light conditions or when you have to use the flash unit. You may enter some problems with the slow shutter lag in the mentioned cases. The delays from shot to shot also get you concerned a little bit.

But I cannot deny that this is an easy-to-use camera thanks to the touch screen LCD. And there are a lot of clear explanations on the screen to help you select the proper settings.

There is no mode dial with the MV800. Therefore, there is no way besides selecting the settings through the touch screen. You can select one of the several following mode options: smart auto, program, panorama, self-shot, scene modes, 3D and special effects, which are all nice.

I like to use a four-way button with menu selections more than an on-screen menus because sometimes it is a little bit hard to make the camera immediately recognize my touch commands. It may also require you to do this again for sometimes. The on-screen menu also causes some small inconvenience when you scroll it.

Despite the similar interface, to use the MV800’s touch screen is still not as easy as a typical smartphone. However, don’t be too worried. This just requires a short period of time for you to become accustomed to this screen. Some areas of the menus are not as difficult to use as other ones.

Thanks to the flip LCD in the unique design, you can find the MV800 totally different from other models. To use it as a normal camera, you just need to position the LCD as usual on the back panel of the camera (as shown in this photo). And when you reposition it, just flip the LCD to make sure that the entire back panel shall rotate around the camera top panel. There are some options to position this flip LCD, including 180, 90 and 45 degrees. But the 180-degree is the only option in which it locks in place.

One of the nice features is the inclusion of a zoom ring with this camera, which is not commons for other ones. It is far easier to use this zoom ring rather than the on-screen buttons to zoom any photos. Besides, when you select the 180 degrees flip option, the back panel shall cover the top panel where the power button, zoom ring and shutter button are all located.

On the back panel, both the home and the playback buttons are put toward the right of the LCD. There are not many buttons with this camera. Therefore, you should use the touch screen LCD to control the various camera’s settings.

Also with this 180-degree option, you cannot use the shutter button. But fortunately, there is another shutter button on the secondary back panel. As usual, you will not see this second shutter button if the LCD and back panel is normally positioned. It is not really comfortable to use this second button, but you will be accustomed to it soon.

There are three different brightness options, which are all bright and sharp. Actually, the image quality of photos shot with the touch screen LCD has been already very good and there are a widescreen option as well.

The MV800 camera is super thin, and the design is just in the black, other than a little amount of silver trim around the lens housing.

micro SD memory card is required with this MV800. You will have to purchase it separately because it has not been included in the device yet.

Both the USB and HDMI slots are supported and safely kept behind strong latches with this Samsung camera.

Samsung Galaxy Camera Review

This article will be removed in 24 hours…

The Bottom Line

The Samsung Galaxy Camera is so interesting that I appreciated it by giving it a higher star rating. But the most important thing for me to give a higher rating is its image quality. It’s hard to appreciate the camera, if it doesn’t take beautiful photos compared to other cameras being similar in price.

It is similar to the Galaxy Camera. Although its image quality is easy to post photos on the Internet, it doesn’t work normally as making huge prints. I cannot appreciate it because its image quality is relatively good but below the average of the others at the price of $450.

Anyway, the camera is considered the good photographer because it has a lot of special features such as 21X optical zoom lens, 4.8-inch touch screen LCD, and built-in Wi-Fi among them. Therefore, the camera may be a correct choice although it has the high price and common image quality.

Also, with a large zoom lens, the Galaxy Camera is suitable for photographers who need a camera using easily and want to quickly upload to the Internet. Samsung consists of a number of smartphone that are similar to this features. The Galaxy Camera is applied a lot of these features. The camera would be appreciated if its features were important for me to assess it.

Provided you can bear this shortcomings of camera and buy it, the camera is useful for you. Let’s throw the star rating away in that case!

Resolution: 16.3 megapixels

Optical zoom: 21X (23-483 mm)

LCD: 4.8-inch, 921,600 pixels (1280×720 HD resolution), touch screen

Maximum image size: 4608 x 3456 pixels

Battery: Rechargeable Li-Ion

Dimensions: 5.07 x 2.79 x 0.75 (at thinnest point) inches

Weight: 10.6 ounces

Image sensor: CMOS 1/2.3 in.

Movie mode: HD 1080p (30 fps)

Touch screen in 4.8-inch is a prominent feature.

Similarly to a smartphone, its menu structure is designed consistently.

21X optical zoom lens really makes the difference between this camera and smartphones.

Built-in Wi-Fi helps this camera share photos on the webpage.

Popup flash brings good image quality despite low light

Its price is higher than other models which are similar to image quality.

It need a larger image sensor to prove its image quality.

There are some shutter lag problems.

Some image softness appears in most photos.

Noise interrupts in many low light images.

Image Quality

Its image quality is a leading problem you can face when using the Samsung Galaxy Camera. The camera owns a small 1/2.3-inch image sensor resulting in some problems on image quality.

About image quality, the Galaxy Camera operates well in comparison of other cameras applied a small image sensor. However, compared to its price, the problems of image quality need considering. In fact, it’s waste if investing in the camera which cannot take a picture with pin sharp image.

Thanks to its large popup flash unit, the camera is able to take flash photos with high image quality. However, when taking photos in the case of low light, it makes some noise in images itself.

The camera provides realistic colors. Besides, in order to sharing photos, the image quality is more consistent through the connection between the Galaxy Camera’s built-in Wi-Fi and social network. However, the camera cannot create sharp pictures for large prints.

The Galaxy Camera is applied innovate operation features. Firstly, the large 4.8-inch LCD screen is quite bright and sharp. Moreover, it is a touch screen LCD that is easy to use. Obviously, the menu system of camera with the touch screen is very impressed.

The 21X optical zoom lens is one of the noticeable features. It makes the prominence of the Galaxy Camera because it no longer is a glorified smartphone. The built-in Wi-Fi found with the Galaxy Camera is set and used easily in some newer cameras of Samsung.

Besides, models of the Galaxy Camera through Verizon and AT&T is your best choice because along with Wi-Fi, they uses 4G technology.  As a result, these versions is more expansive than the Wi-Fi-only version. The reason is that at the time purchasing the camera, customer has to cost for a data plan through one of the two service providers.

Good battery life is an advantage of the Samsung Galaxy Camera. The camera has the essential power to use in a long time. However, large battery adds to the weight of camera. Noticeably, turn the Wi-Fi extensively off when not necessary, if not, the battery drains quickly.

Design of the Galaxy Camera is assessed very high. The installment of the Android OS helps it perform as in a manner of smartphone. The working way is very impressive. Specially, this is the first time a camera has such a large LCD screen along with the Android OS, although previously, Samsung has said the Galaxy NX DIL camera is the same.

As a smartphone, downloading and storing a diversity of apps is what you can do with the Galaxy Camera through using one in the two connection ways – Wi-Fi and the 4G.

In addition, it owns a well-looking shape. In order to have more power, it is a big camera with the large LCD. It is about 10 ounces in weight.

Although the Galaxy Camera may be considered as a point-and-shoot digital camera, it can works continuously with two impressive features.

Samsung DV300F Review

Overview of the Samsung DV300F camera

Commonly, for reviewers on digital cameras, the image quality is often the most important thing to consider for most cameras. Therefore, if the under-expected image quality creates bad photos, no other aspect can make up for this.

However, the feeling when using a camera is also important. What I want to mention here is the fun factor. If it is ok with the image quality, this factor helps you narrow down the choices when you are considering several different point and shoot cameras.

To acknowledge this liking, the Samsung DV300F is really a great latest model among recent DualView cameras. The two LCD screens are nice. In addition, you can connect the camera with the Internet thanks to the strong Wi-Fi capability. This built-in feature enables you to share photos on social networks very easily. Even its image quality is better than that of many other cameras of the same sub-$150 price range.

If you want some advanced features, this Samsung camera may not meet your expectation. However, to consider the great combination between the image quality, the performance and the fun factor, this is really a wonderful camera to choose. Just purchase it without having to concern about your experiences on photography.

Detailed Review of the Samsung DV300F

Image Quality

Do not forget that the Samsung DV300F is primarily designed to be a portrait camera. Therefore, for portrait images, the image quality is of the best. The performance of the flash is also pretty good. You just need to keep a certain distance from the subject to avoid producing blown-out images.

The 5X optical zoom lens is a little small; therefore, you cannot shoot nature photos over a too far distance. But, in fact, this is not a model which is specialized for nature photography. With the LCD on the front and with the Wi-Fi capabilities, you will likely intend to take portraits and share on social networks more. If you need a model for the above nature photography, other thin cameras with large zooms seem to be more proper.

Besides, there is a variety of special effects which brings you a lot of fun. This is a great aspect of the DV300F camera.

Although the movie resolution is not high with this camera, just limited to 720p, it does not matter if you just want to share your videos via social networking. The quality is still ok for this purpose.

There are some little shutter lag and if you use the flash, sometimes, you may encounter the delays from shots to shot. However, not many cameras of competitors around $150 prices could have the pretty good response times like the Samsung DV300F. The speed of initializing the camera is faster than that of many similarly priced models.

The fully automatic mode works nicely with this camera which helps the use of this point-and-shoot camera become easier. Therefore, even there are a few manual settings, it does not matter. You can adjust basic settings such as the ISO settings or the white balance with the above full automatic setting.

The Wi-Fi connectivity is pretty easy with the DV300F. Samsung has provided you the software with pretty thorough steps, in which you find no difficulty in following them. But remember that you have to pay attention to the battery when using the Wi-Fi network because it runs out more quickly. In case that you use this Dual View camera for the common shooting situations, the Standard battery life is pretty ok. Just when you use the Wi-Fi or the front LCD screen, it drains quickly.

There are some available apps to help you control your DV300F camera via your smartphone if you like to do it.

Obviously, one of the most outstanding features of the Samsung DV300F is the design with the dual LCD screens. You will see a very sharp and bright LCD screen which is measured at 3.0 inch in thickness on the back panel of the camera.

The second LCD on the front is a half thinner, just 1.5 inches diagonally. Although this LCD screen is not sharp, it is ok with the intended purpose. Samsung helps you easily take self-portraits with this front LCD screen. There are some interesting animation which caught the attention of naughty kids when there photos are taking. With a self-timer countdown mode on the screen, it is much more convenient for you to be ready for the photos when you can see the recording time right at the current moments.

This front LCD feature is extremely amazing and you cannot find it with most other cameras. Not only you but many other people will be attracted at the first glance to pay attention to it.

The menu of this camera is organized a very good manner. There are a lot of graphics on the menu, which is typical for most cameras manufactured by Samsung. Thanks to this numerous graphics, it is not difficult for you at all to select the mode. The menus are also very nice together with the 3.0-inch LC screen.

The Samsung DV300F is a pretty thin camera. And when the LCD on the front panel is activated, it looks exactly the same as a point-and-shoot camera. For such a “fun” camera, the color options would be more diverse for you to decide, not just limited to the silver or black colors. In general, the DV300F looks thin and beautiful.

The control buttons located on the back panel are a little bit small, which is quite a common drawback for the design of such group buttons. However, the strong points of this camera may get you easily ignore those small weaknesses. It is not easy at all to find both the good image quality and the fun factor within just one camera the DV300F, at least for shooting portrait images. In addition to this wonderful feature with the two LCDS, the mix between the performance, the value as well as the stylish look make the Samsung DV300F a very nice option.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Smartphone Camera Review

Specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Smartphone

  • Resolution of the primary camera: 13 MPs
  • Resolution of the secondary camera: 2 MPs

  • Optical zoom: None
  • Dimensions: 5.95 x 3.12 x 0.33 inches
  • LCD: 5.7-inch AMOLED touch screen, resolution 1920×1080 (full HD quality)
  • Battery: Rechargeable (type: Li-Ion)
  • Weight: 5.93 ounces

The Bottom Line

If you are interested in Samsung’ products recently, you will be aware that this manufacturer pay a lot of attention to the appearance of their product. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of the recent examples. In view of the operational interfaces, there is a similarity between digital cameras and smartphones. Both those products are design with a touchscreen. This screen is one of the factors that make both digital cameras and smartphone cameras are incredibly convenient to be used.

You don’t have to worry about the resolution of The Samsung Galaxy Note. It is extremely large up to 13 megapixels – one of the biggest number on the smartphone camera market. Although high-quality photos are not the things that you should expect too much, this large resolution number is really an advantage that you cannot ignore. With this resolution, the images are better than those from other smartphone cameras.

The images of The Galaxy Note 3 is very good – it is as good as many common cameras. However, one weak point of this camera is that it does not have an optical zoom lens while a zoom lens is almost must-have for most point and shoot digital cameras – even the most basic ones. Therefore, if lacking a zoom lens does not matter to you and you just need good images to show on social networks, this one is truly a great choice.

(NOTE: Because some point and shoot cameras are being replaced by smartphone cameras more and more now, on the Cameras site, sometimes reviews of smartphones cameras appear. However, this doesn’t mean all the features, such as calling, texting, apps, or other features. It only focuses on the camera features of a smartphone. Consequently, people give the star rating for a smartphone camera in comparison with digital cameras, not with other smartphones, or smartphone cameras alone).

Image Quality of Galaxy Note 3 Camera

The images created by the Galaxy Note 3 are much better than those of other smartphone cameras on the market. Even those images are as good as those of many some point and shoot digital cameras. It is impossible to create large prints with high quality. However, it can satisfy you well if you just want to share those images on social networks.

What a pity that there is no optical zoom lens in this smartphone camera. Otherwise, it will be a very good option for beginners on photography if they just want it mainly for photographing purposes.

The Galaxy Note 3 has an extremely large amount of resolution. It is up to 13 megapixels of resolution, a big number among many cameras of the same type. However, you may encounter one problem with this camera when the camera shake happens. It may cause the photoes to be a little bit blur. Unlike some other devices, there is only one shutter button right on the screen. Because of this, it will be difficult for users to hold the device steady and press this button stimutaneously. Especially in low light conditions, this problem makes you more frustrated. Then, you will have to use the handy LED flash for these conditions for indoor photos.

You can adjust the white balance or an ISO up to 800; however,  most of people don’t want to perform this. Most of them just want to keep the manual control settings unchanged. Besides, the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone camera’s basic automatic settings is quite acceptable for most photographers.

Performance of Samsung Smartphone Camera

In general, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 works quite well. The camera of this smartphone is very good. All of these are all based on a 2.3GHz quad-core processor. The internal storage of the memory is large, up to 32 GB. Besides, a microSD memory card of 32 GB  is still ok if you want to use. Then, the total memory can be up to 64GB.

This camera smartphone works pretty fast; therefore, you will not have to experience serious shutter lag. In normal lighting conditions, you will find the shot to shot delays very short – just less than 1 second. But for low light conditions that you have to use the LED flash unit, you need to wait for some seconds to take another photo after the previous photo is shot.

One highlighted feature of this camera smartphone is its battery life. You will not have to recharge the camera during several hours with dozen of photos taken.

Design of The Galaxy Note 3 Smartphone

One attractive point of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is its amazing screen. It become a very powerful one with the AMOLED display screen. The screen is up to 5.7-inch. A full HD display is supported for the touch screen. You will feel satisfied when looking at both still image photos and videos on this very large screen.

Certainly, besides the strong point above, the large size of the Galaxy Note 3 is also a hindrance. With the length of 6 inches, you may find it uncomfortable to put it into your pocket. To make up for this length is its minimum thickness. It is just 0.33 inches thin and it weighs less than 6 ounces. Consequently, the Galaxy Note 3 can be considered a good device.

And this large touch screen display is also taken full advantage to create the navigational features of the Galaxy Note 3. It is not difficult at all to use the camera.

There are many special effect options you can find on this Samsung smartphone camera. You can make fun with it.
